Shoulder Bursitis

Tendonitis is one of the most common injuries that an athlete can suffer in the long term. Even though tendonitis is most common in the arm or knees, it is also an ailment that can impact the shoulder. Shoulder tendonitis is a condition where the tendons in the rotator cuff are inflamed, swollen and they feel tender to the touch.

Causes of shoulder Bursitis

The most common reason why someone would suffer shoulder tendonitis is overuse. Sports where the shoulders play a big part of the athlete’s performance are going to cause such injuries. For instance, an athlete who is playing as a quarterback is may suffer these issues, as they are using their shoulder for each throw. Tennis players and baseball pitchers are also likely candidates for the injury.
Sometimes the injury is the result of weak muscles in the area, or bad throwing and swimming techniques. Excessive training or poor management of a previous injury can also cause shoulder tendonitis.

Symptoms of shoulder Bursitis

The first sign of tendonitis in the shoulder is pain that starts in the shoulder and is coming down to the arm. If the pain gets worse when you are lifting your arm overhead, or twisting it, then it is more likely to be tendonitis. Weakness in the shoulder and pain while sleeping are also symptoms.
