3 Sports Injuries EPAT Therapy Can Help Heal

Nov 01, 2016

When it comes to pain in the joints, legs and feet, EPAT shockwave therapy has become a favored method of treatment. EPAT, also known as an Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology, mitigates various painful conditions. EPAT therapy uses pressure waves to transform kinetic energy into expanding shock waves. This stimulates the metabolism, enhances blood circulation and accelerates the healing process.

EPAT therapy is a type of sports medicine treatment that does not require drugs or surgery. Furthermore, EPAT therapy can treat a host of conditions.

EPAT Therapy

EPAT Therapy for Lateral Elbow Pain

Lateral elbow pain is often associated with rowing elbow and lateral epicondylitis, also called tennis elbow. Tennis elbow is typically caused by a constant repetitive motion. This then causes inflammation of the tendons. The patient experiences mild pain in the early stages, but the pain can worsen over time. Moreover, it is possible to experience pain in just your dominant arm or both arms. As the condition gets worse, you can also end up losing your strength of grip.

EPAT Therapy for Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is an injury that can become unbearable when left untreated. It is one of the more common sports injuries due to overuse. It typically affects those between the ages of 18 and 65. Runners are also more prone to suffer from plantar fasciitis. Symptoms of plantar fasciitis include tenderness, stiffness and heel pain. A person suffering from this may also find it difficult to walk or even stand.

EPAT Therapy for Rotator Cuff Tendonitis

Rotator cuff tendonitis occurs when the muscles and tendons that move the shoulder joint become irritated or inflamed. This affects people who engage in sports that involve extending the arm over the head regularly, as with pitchers in baseball. At the same time, you can also end up suffering from this condition if you tend to sleep on your shoulder every night.

Symptoms of a rotator cuff tear include pain triggered by the lowering or raising of your arm. Also, swelling and pain on the side of your arm or the front of your shoulder are symptoms.

If you happen to be suffering from any of these conditions, it is best to seek medical help right away. To see if EPAT therapy is right for you, consult with our sports medicine doctor. Dr. Bob Meyer can determine if EPAT therapy is a good fit for your sports injury treatment plan.
